Most sales decks remain static templates, missing the critical personal touch that wins over an executive buyer or addresses a specific prospect’s pain points. SiftHub’s AI Teammate in the Browser Extension transforms Google Slides from a simple presentation tool into an active drafting partner.
By linking your active slide deck to SiftHub, you can repurpose entire presentations for new deals, refine your messaging for different stakeholders, and apply AI-generated edits directly to your slides in seconds.
Getting Started: Linking Your Presentation
When you open the SiftHub Browser Extension while viewing a Google Slide deck, SiftHub automatically detects your environment.
The "Work with this tab" Nudge: A banner will appear at the bottom of the extension. Click Work with this tab to link your presentation.
-
Granting Access (First-Time Setup): To allow SiftHub to edit your slides, you must grant it permission. Copy the SiftHub service email address (
g-integrations@sifthub.io) and add it as an Editor via the native Google Slides Share button. -
Automatic Edit Mode: Clicking the nudge automatically toggles Edit Mode to ON. This allows SiftHub to not only read your slides but also suggest changes that can be applied directly to the document.
Context Recognition: SiftHub will display the name of the deck you are currently working with (e.g., "Working with: Guided Pilot Deck").
Manually Adding Context: If you dismiss the initial nudge, you can still link the deck later. Click the @ button in the message bar to manually add the context of the active tab to your conversation for that turn or any subsequent turns.
Slide Limits: SiftHub tracks the context of your entire presentation up to a maximum of 50 slides. If your deck is larger than 50 slides, the AI will prioritize the first 50 for scanning and editing.
Collateral conversations in AI Teammate history
For those turns of your AI Teammate conversations in Chrome Browser Extension where you work with a Google Slide tab, you can view the suggested edits in the extension.
You can also navigate to the desired conversation in the extension from your history in the AI Teammate webapp and review the suggested edits by clicking on Open in Browser Extension.
The transactions charged for that turn of the conversation as well as sources used are shown in the webapp.
Recommended Usage & Use Cases
To get the best results, treat the AI Teammate as a co-editor who knows your company's entire knowledge base.
1. Repurposing for a New Deal
Instead of manually hunting for every mention of an old client, ask:
"Repurpose this deck for the Acme Corp deal, focusing on their specific interest in security and scalability."
2. Tailoring for Personas
Adjust your tone based on who is in the room:
"Make the tone of this entire deck more aggressive and ROI-focused for a CFO audience."
3. Targeting Specific Slides
Since SiftHub scans the whole deck, you can direct it to specific areas using slide numbers or titles:
"On Slide 4 (Success Criteria), update the bullet points to reflect our new 2025 performance benchmarks."
"Find the pricing slide and adjust the discount tier to 15%."
Under the Hood: AI Capabilities
SiftHub leverages context-aware AI to ensure your slides are accurate and impactful:
Deal Context & History: SiftHub looks through your specific deal context and past successful conversations to ensure every edit is relevant.
Source Control: You can change your sources or turn Web Search on/off to pull in the latest market data.
Usage Tracking: Each "Edit" or "Repurpose" query consumes upto 50 transactions depending on the extent of your deck scanned, connected sources searched and edits generated, which you can track in your Usage Logs.
Web App Integration: You can view these same AI Teammate conversations in the SiftHub Web App for a more detailed chronological log.
Applying and Undoing Edits
Once AI Teammate generates a suggestion, you have full control over how it enters your document.
Applying Changes
Individual Apply: Click Apply on a specific suggestion card to update that text block in Google Slides.
Apply All: If SiftHub suggests multiple changes across several slides, click Apply All to update the deck in one go.
Confirmation: A green toast notification will confirm when the modification is successful.
The "SiftHub Undo"
If a suggestion doesn't look quite right after you’ve applied it:
Locate the suggestion card in your conversation history.
Click the Undo button that now appears on that tile.
How it works: SiftHub programmatically restores the text to the last known state it captured before the "Apply" action was triggered.
Expert Tips for the Best Experience
Edit vs. Ask Mode: Keep Edit Mode toggled ON if you want clickable "Apply" buttons. Toggle it OFF if you simply want to chat about the slide content without making direct changes.
Manual Overrides: If you manually change text on a slide while a suggestion is pending in the extension, and then click Apply on the suggestion, then your edits will be overwritten.
Context Continuity: If you switch to another Google Slides tab, SiftHub will notice and nudge you to "Work with this tab instead." Switching will add the new deck as context for the next turn of your ongoing conversation.
Troubleshooting & Common Scenarios
Here's how you can resolve common hurdles with specific document permissions or collaborative workflows:
1. "View Only" or Permission Issues
If you cannot see the Apply or Undo buttons, or if edits fail to save, your Google account may lack the necessary permissions for that deck.
Check Your Access: Ensure you have "Editor" access in Google Slides.
Request Access: Use the native Google Slides Share button to request access if needed.
Correct Account: Ensure your Chrome browser is signed into the account that holds the file permissions.
2. Handling Content Conflicts
Simultaneous Editing: If a teammate manually modifies a slide while SiftHub is generating a suggestion, applying that suggestion may overwrite collaborative edits made in parallel.
Undo Failures: If a slide element is deleted manually after you applied an AI edit, the Undo button may fail because the target no longer exists. Use Google Slides’ native Version History to restore the slide.
3. Connection & Session Timeouts
Network Interruption: If your connection drops during an "Apply All" action, SiftHub will show a "Could not apply · Retry" message.
Idle Sessions: If the extension is open for an extended period, it may require a refresh. Reload the Google Slides tab to re-initialize the AI Teammate.
4. Large Deck Limitations
Slide Count: SiftHub currently supports up to 50 slides. For larger decks, focus your prompts on specific slide names or titles to help the AI identify the right content.
Prompting for Precision
Stakeholder Personas: Mention the specific role of your audience (e.g., "CRO," "Security Architect," or "IT Director") to get tailored messaging that resonates with their unique pain points.
Scope Your Requests: Instead of asking to "improve the deck," try "summarize the value proposition on Slide 3 using three bullet points" for more actionable results.
Use Brand Guidelines: If your organization has specific tone-of-voice requirements, include them in your prompt instructions to ensure AI-generated edits remain brand-compliant.
