SiftHub's Confluence Connector integrates your Confluence workspace content into SiftHub, allowing you to search and get AI-generated answers from your Confluence pages and attachments directly through the SiftHub Platform.
What Gets Connected
SiftHub lets you selectively connect:
- Entire spaces
- Individual pages
- All unrestricted child pages of a connected page get automatically connected
- Restricted pages (require additional configuration)
This way, SiftHub only reads and indexes the content you explicitly allow it to access.
Learn how to connect specific Confluence Pages or Spaces to SiftHub.
Supported Content
SiftHub reads and indexes the following content from a connected page
- Complete page content
- Attachments
- Page metadata (creation date, last modified date, authors)
- Space information
Note: All child pages of a connected page are automatically included in the connection.
How It Works
Once connected, SiftHub:
- Indexes content from selected spaces and pages
- Syncs content updates every 30 minutes to capture any changes
- Maintains all native Confluence permissions
- Makes the content searchable and available for AI-generated answers
Access Control
SiftHub strictly respects Confluence's native permissions:
- Users only see content they have direct access to
- Access automatically updates when permissions change in Confluence
- Different users may see different search results based on their access rights
- Deleted/archived/suspended users automatically lose access
Note: For restricted pages, the SiftHub app needs to be added as a user to enable indexing.
Using Confluence Content in SiftHub
Your connected Confluence content appears in:
- Search results with relevant snippets and metadata
- AI-generated Answers and document Autofill as verified sources
- Conversations and Narratives with SiftMate
Content Updates
- New or modified content appears in SiftHub within 30 minutes
- Updates include:
- New pages and content
- Page modifications
- Permission changes
- Deletions
- Child page changes
- Deleted content is automatically removed from SiftHub results
Confluence Connector Setup
Time to complete: 2 mins
Required Permissions: Ensure you have the following access and permissions before you begin the setup, or contact your administrator for the same.
- Confluence Organization Administrator access: To install the SiftHub App
- SiftHub Admin or Account Owner role: To activate the Connector from the SiftHub Web App > Connectors > Apps page.
Main steps:
Step 1: Installing the SiftHub app for Confluence
Step 2: Activating the connection for specific Pages, Spaces or Wikis
Additional Handling of Restricted Pages and Spaces with Non-default settings:
Pages and Spaces with restricted access or non-default settings will require additional configuration steps for SiftHub to be able to read them.
Step 1: Install the SiftHub App for Confluence
- Login to your Atlassian account as as administrator - https://id.atlassian.com/login
- Under Apps, click on Confluence
- In the Confluence homepage, Click on Apps -> Manage Apps
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Settings
- Select Enable development mode and click Apply.
- Reload the page
- Click on Upload app
- Copy and paste the following app descriptor URL - https://app.sifthub.io/api/v1/atlassian/connect
- Click Upload
- Click Close on the confirmation modal for successful app installation.
Step 2: Activating the connection for specific Pages and Spaces
SiftHub provides you the flexibility of selecting which unrestricted and default Spaces or Pages in Confluence you want to connect to SiftHub. Once the app installation is complete, the relevant Page or Space URLs should be shared with your SiftHub Customer Success Manager for activation.
Examples of Space and Page URLs
- Space URL -
-
- https://sifthub.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Sales/overview
- https://sifthub.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/SE/overview
- Page URL -
-
- https://sifthub-integrations-team.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Sales/pages/14877157/Template+-+How-to+guide
- https://sifthub-integrations-team.atlassian.net/wiki/spaces/Sales/pages/14877158/Assets
Once shared, the Confluence Connector will be active within 24 hours.
Important Notes:
- If a Page URL is shared, all unrestricted Child Pages of the Page will be automatically connected as well.
- The above applies for unrestricted (or open to all) Pages and Spaces. If a Page or Space has restricted access or non-default settings, it will require additional configuration steps mentioned below
Handling restricted Pages and Spaces
If a Page or Space has restricted or non-default access, the SiftHub app will have to be added as a user to that Page/Space, before the URL for the same can be shared with the SiftHub CSM for activation.
For Pages:
1. Click on the red lock button on top right (Note: Restricted pages will be identified by this button)
2. Search for SiftHub
3. Select View only and click on Apply
Once the App is added a user, the corresponding Page URL can be shared with the SiftHub Customer Success Manager for Activation.
For Spaces:
Similarly, for restricted or non-default Spaces, you can go to Space settings and add the SiftHub App as a user with View Access, before sharing the Space URL.
If you are experiencing issues with the connector or its setup, contact your SiftHub Customer Success Manager or reach out to support@sifthub.io.
