Welcome to your guide to setting up your Gong Connector for the SiftHub Platform. Time to complete setup: 10 mins
Connection Requirements: Ensure you have the following access and permissions before you begin the setup, or contact the respective administrator for the same.
- Gong Administrator access: To create the API Key.
Step 1. Generate API Key
To obtain credentials, you must be a Gong administrator. Follow these steps in order to generate an API Key.
1. Sign in to Gong through a user with Gong administrator access.
2. In the left side panel, click the Home icon and you will be redirected to your workspace home.
3. In the left side panel at the bottom, Click Company Settings.
4. In Company settings, under the Ecosystem card, click on API
5. Go to the API KEYS tab
6. Copy the Base URL present on the screen.
7. Click Get API Key to receive the Access Key and the Secret Key by clicking on Show secret.
8. Save the following details to be shared with your SiftHub Customer Success Manager in order to activate Gong.
a. Base URL
b. Access Key
c. Secret Key
Step 2: Activate Gong
SiftHub provides utmost flexibility in terms of what you can connect as well as which calls users can access
What you can connect
SiftHub provides the capability to connect Gong call transcripts at various levels (entire workspace / specific company library folders, specific calls etc). Select one of the following options and provide the required information to your SiftHub Customer Success Manager:
Option 1: Connect an entire workspace:
Provide a link to the workspace homepage
Example format:
https://[your-instance].app.gong.io/home?workspace-id=[your-workspace-id]
Option 2: Connect specific company library folders:
Provide the links to the specific folders
Example format:
https://[your-instance].app.gong.io/library/company?workspace-id=[your-workspace-id]&fol der-id=[your-folder-id]
Connect only specific users' calls within a workspace or folder:
First, select Option 1 or 2 above
Then provide the email ids of the users whose calls you wish to connect
Option 3: Connect only specific individual calls:
Provide links to the specific calls
Example format: https://[your-instance].app.gong.io/call?id=[your-call-id]
User access controls
Please specify one of the following access control options for your SiftHub Customer Success Manager:
Open Access: All users can see everyone's calls
This option allows any SiftHub user in your organization to view and access calls from any Gong user that has been connected.
Restricted Access: Users can only see calls they participated in
This option ensures users can only access calls where they were a participant, maintaining privacy and limiting access to relevant conversations only.
Note: Delay in syncing transcripts from Gong APIs
When a workspace, specific folders, users, or individual calls are connected, Gong processes each meeting transcript before sending it to SiftHub.
- As per Gong’s SLA, transcripts may be sent via API up to 24 hours after a meeting ends.
- This means transcripts may not be available in SiftHub for up to 24 hours after the meeting concludes.
Time for connection activation:
After providing the required details to your SiftHub Customer Success Manager, your connection will be active in approximately 24 hours.
