When several people work on the same Q&A over time, it is easy to lose track of who changed the answer, who reassigned the reviewer, or when a Category was added or removed. The History tab on every Q&A gives you a chronological record of every change made to it — what changed, when, and by whom.
Where to find it
Open any Q&A from Repository > Q&As and click the History tab next to Details in the right panel.
For the Details panel itself, see Managing Q&As in the SiftHub Web App.
How the activity list is organised
- Entries are listed newest first, under a date heading for the day they happened.
- Every row shows the person’s avatar and name, a plain-language description of what they did, and the time.
- Nothing is grouped or collapsed. If you change the Owner, Reviewer, Category, Industry, Source tags and Collections in one sitting, that is six separate rows rather than one summary row. It makes for a longer list, but the trail stays unambiguous.
What gets logged
Content and workflow
- Question — {User} updated the Question
- Answer — {User} updated the Answer, with a comparison view (see below)
- Alternate questions — logged individually as they are added, edited or removed
- Attachments — {User} added an Attachment: {filename} or deleted the Attachment: {filename}
- Status — {User} changed the Status to {status}
Moving a Q&A to In review through the reviewer assignment step produces two rows — one for the status change and one for the reviewer — never a single combined entry.
Metadata
- Owner, Reviewer, Next review date — logged with the new value, for example {User} changed the Owner to {name}
- Category, Industry, Source tags — each addition or removal is its own row, for example added a Category: Finance
- Collections — {User} added Q&A to Collection: {name} or removed Q&A from Collection: {name}
System fields such as Q&A origin date, Created by and Last modified are not logged as separate rows. Last modified and Last modified by in the Details panel always reflect the most recent entry in History.
Comparing answer versions
The Answer is the only field with a comparison view, since it is the content reviewers check most closely.
Each answer-update row carries a Compare changes link. Click it to open a side-by-side view of the answer before and after that edit, with the author and time above each version.
- Removed content is marked in red, Added content in green.
- Hide changes switches off the mark-up so you can read the updated answer as plain text.
Question, Alternate question, attachment and metadata rows do not have a comparison view.
Restoring an earlier answer
There is no Restore action in History. To bring back an earlier answer, open Compare changes, copy the text from the previous version, and paste it into the Answer field. That is logged as a normal update, the same as any other edit.
